FCF Implements Centralized VAR System with VOL in Brazil

The Santa Catarina Football Federation has implemented its own centralized VAR system, taking an important step in its project to develop and improve refereeing in Santa Catarina football.

The initiative is led by the administration of FCF president Rubens Angelotti, with the leadership of the refereeing director, Kleber Lucio Gil, and made possible through the efforts of the then FCF general secretary, Claudio Gomes, along with the technical enablement provided by Ricardo Barreto.

The debut of the FCF VAR took place in the finals of the 2025 Santa Catarina Cup, successfully allowing the review of goal situations in the first match of the final.

GOAL SPORT TECH is the provider of the VAR Basic and FIFA-certified VOL Quality technology. The system developed by GOAL SPORT TECH includes FIFA-certified VAR and VOL technologies and operates from a central hub installed in Florianópolis.

Initially, the facility includes two rooms equipped to remotely operate simultaneous matches using the centralized VAR model. The system also anticipates expansion for Video Support, a new portable technology for video refereeing.
